Jason Ciejka, PhD

Interim Senior Associate Dean

Jason Ciejka is Associate Dean for academic programs and faculty partnerships and serves as the primary liaison in the OUE for departments and DUSs in the humanities, arts, languages, and history. He supports faculty initiatives related to curriculum, assessment, and educational policy and has assisted with the successful creation and approval of more than 15 new majors and minors and 5 dual and extended degree programs.

At various points during his tenure in OUE, Dean Ciejka has led or supported several other programs and functions, including the honors program, commencement awards, endowed scholarships, and education abroad. He works closely with the Offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and Academic Planning as well as the associate deans of Emory’s other undergraduate schools.

Dean Ciejka has overseen academic integrity and the Honor Council since 2012, overhauling the honor code process to include approaches aligned with restorative justice. He created a unique practicum course that serves as a model for the training and professional development of student Honor Council members. He also led the initiative to create a unified undergraduate academic honor code at Emory in 2022. Dean Ciejka has presented frequently at national conferences on matters related to academic integrity and the role of student-led honor systems.

Dean Ciejka graduated summa cum laude from William & Mary where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received an MA and PhD in Art History from Emory with a focus on architecture, art theory, and biography in early modern Italy, especially seventeenth-century Rome. He has taught courses for Emory University, Spelman College, Agnes Scott College, and Kennesaw State University, and a study abroad program in Europe for the Georgia Institute of Technology.
